Latin American artistic practices

a reading from contemporary problems

5 CLASSES

SATURDAYS  11:30  to 13  HS

Start October 3

info:  We will investigate the aesthetic-artistic expressions of Latin American artists to generate an environment for reflection and exchange of knowledge.

In these meetings we intend to address issues of contemporary art from a regionalist perspective. We will review different theoretical categories and historiographical approaches in order to determine if there is a Latin American art and from what place and resources we can contribute to the construction of an image of what is Latin American.

1 - Globalization and construction of a Latin American identity. The links between identity and the processes of artistic creation.
2 - The symbolic construction of the Latin American territory. Geographic questions. Cartographies and the problem of borders.
3 - Bodies: Art and gender. Feminist art and collective cas practices.
4 - Otherness and diversity. The other and the construction of stereotypes.
5 - Review of curatorial models. Deconstruction of hegemonic exhibition platforms. Regionalist curatorial proposals and emblematic samples of Latin American art
